Acclaimed Meisner teacher Rob Horton returns to Actors Room Byron Bay this Term 4, bringing his warm, connected approach to actor training straight from Scott Williams's Impulse Company.
Join Rob for a 4-week adult Meisner course, building the spontaneous, truthful responses that create real "movie magic" on screen.
In 4 weeks you will get to work on the core Meisner exercise called The Repetition Exercise: it focuses on true connection between actors, active listening and instinctive( impulse-based ) response. This is Exercise 1 of the Technique.
You will also get to work on Exercise 5 which is called Approach to Text, focusing specifically on scene work.
Meisner Technique
Meisner Technique is one of the world's most popular methods of training professional actors, prized for its ability to create compelling, dynamic screen performances.
The technique's founder, Sanford Meisner, trained within the same circle of creative artists that produced some of America's greatest acting teachers of the twentieth century — Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Bobby Lewis and Harold Clurman among them.
Meisner Technique is built from a series of exercises, each one developing the skills laid down by the last. We begin with what is arguably the best actor training exercise ever created: the Repetition Exercise.

Acclaimed Meisner teacher
Rob Horton represents Scott Williams' Impulse Company here on the Gold Coast. Scott is a Master Meisner teacher who trained directly with Sanford Meisner and has built a warm, supportive and deeply connected approach to actor training.
Scott's students include Jessie Buckley, who trained directly with him in the Meisner Technique.
Meisner is a series of engaging exercises designed to get you responding spontaneously and truthfully with your scene partner, no overthinking, just real connection.
